ZITHER PINS

Pianos support massive strings at extremely high tensions, calling for piano tuning pins that are large and extra-sturdy. For almost any other string instrument aside from those using machine gears, the smaller tuning pins known as zither pins are suitable. That includes all sorts of zithers, lyres and harps, not to mention whatever other oddball designs you may come up with.

These pins are sized so that they hold tight in a 3/16" hole. They are 1-1/2" long, black in color. See below for the tuning wrench to use with these pins.

ZITHER PIN TUNING WRENCH

Sure, you can turn your zither pins with pliers or an adjustable wrench, but you’ll quickly find that doing so is exasperatingly awkward. Worse, it will mar and ultimately strip the tuning pin. Our zither pin tuning wrench is dependably easy to use and quite affordable.
